Mexico Destination Wedding: Capturing Purposeful Imagery as a Photographer
The best part about helping couples throw tradition in the wind? The possibilities for wedding days are endless! For some, that might just mean a Mexico Destination Wedding in San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur.
As a wedding photographer, it is so easy to get caught up in the concept of far-off destinations and epic locations.
At the end of the day, it is important to remember that it is about the two people in front of the camera. It is the story of their journey together that makes those experiences the most memorable.
There are real people holding real memories in these scenic places, and that is what really matters.
HOW I STRIVE TO REMEMBER “THE MOMENT” DURING A MEXICO DESTINATION WEDDING
From the beginning of my business, I have always tried to capture more than just a picture.
No matter if I am photographing a Mexico Destination Wedding or an in-home session, capturing the feeling of a place and the memory that is held within it is so important to me.
There is just something about looking back at a photo and being able to hear the waves crashing again or the sounds of the mariachi music at your reception.
As a photographer, it is my mission to help our clients remember the feeling of mist off the ocean and feel the warmth of the person they cherish most.
3 THINGS I DO WITH ALL OF MY COUPLES
ONE | GET TO KNOW THE COUPLE
Before their wedding, I work with each of my couples to learn everything there is to know about them.
I do this through an initial discovery call, Narrative questionnaires, and other planning calls.
TWO | LOCATION SCOUTING
I make sure to scout out locations before EVERY destination wedding.
For more about my location scouting processes, check out my blog: Torrey Pines Anniversary Session in San Diego
THREE | CAPTURE THE ESSENCE OF A PLACE/EVENT
I always ask myself these FOUR golden questions
What am I smelling/hearing?
What is it that makes this place or couple unique?
What is most important to this couple?
What is it that they want to remember?
