I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jessica and her now-husband Roark through the last two-plus years - I was there for their engagement session, COVID elopement, these studio maternity photos, and finally their countryside wedding. Hopefully, I’ll have the chance to capture their little one’s milestones too, evolving our relationship into something even more special. There’s something unique, captivating even, about getting the opportunity to create for people you’ve spent a lot of time with, and see grow, over the years. This is the root of what I hope to do: become a photographer for every stage of life.

Northlight Studio
Studios, like Northlight Studio in Seattle, Washington, are a perfect way of getting in touch with your creative side with beautiful light and a blank slate to have fun and be creative.
They allow you to bring your favorite elements of your work into a more intimate display. Jessica and Roark were wanting to do something different than a sunset maternity session which inspired this creative, modern studio session. Utilizing the earthy tones with different backdrops created a sense of tonal definition; In addition, their simple yet-effective casual outfits aided in the minimalistic approach to their maternity session. I love that with this minimal approach you see a natural collection of pictures that tell a gentle love story.
Casual and minimal
Maternity photos are always something special, I truly believe that. Women have the privilege of doing something extraordinary, and getting that special time documented prior to the new familial addition shouldn't be taken lightly. I know everyone, myself included, likes to utilize nature as a backdrop, especially with maternity photos as, thematically, it lines up well. Sometimes, though, minimalistic, casual studio maternity photos can exhibit those same creative qualities in a different space and this session is a prime example.

This modern studio maternity session was so special because I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jessica and Roark through the last two-plus years. I was able to capture their engagement session, Mt.Adams elopement, and now their maternity session as they wait in excited anticipation to meet their newest addition to the family. There’s something unique, captivating even, about getting the opportunity to create for people you’ve spent a lot of time with, and watched grow over the years. It has been a joy and honor to see Jessica and Roark go from becoming engaged to now becoming parents soon. This is the at the root of what I hope to do- become a photographer for all stages of your life. Each season holds something special and it is a joy to capture every part of it so you can look back on those milestones and see the beauty that was within each of them.

Family Video Session
Once Jessica and Roark’s sweet baby girl was born, I had the privilege of creating a family video for them. I can’t express how special this time was with them after all the different seasons of their life I got to capture. There is also something so beautiful about capturing the ordinary treasures of everyday life for a family as they go about their day. Each season is so unique and time flies so quickly that a family video session is something that will allow you to not only see snapshots of the season but see their little smiles, the way you interact with each other, and the beautiful ways you go through your day together.
